Vacuum Heat Treating and Medical Component Brazing Services

Brazing Services: Medical Component Brazing

Brazing services can be performed on a variety of medical components. Vacuum brazing is a clean environment that is safe for medical products. A medical component can be cleaned and sanitized before brazing, and if vacuum brazing is used, the component will also come out clean and will not require extensive post-braze polishing and cleaning. High strength brazing can be performed by annealing the braze joint, allowing more control over the structure of the joint. Annealing and brazing services can be performed in a single furnace cycle.

The lack of atmosphere in vacuum brazing eliminates the use of fluxes which can corrupt or discolor a metal. This is often a very important factor when brazing for the medical industry. We can also perform our medical component brazing services in several inert atmospheres, including hydrogen, argon, helium, and nitrogen. Brazing can be performed at lower temperatures than welding, which makes brazing less likely to distort a delicate medical component.

We have many brazing alloys for use with medical components, including nickel alloys, copper alloys, silver alloys, and gold alloys. Gold alloy brazing is optimized for use in the medical industry. We also offer annealing, diffusion bonding, sintering, and tool hardening services. All of our heat treating services, including medical component brazing services, are NADCAP accredited.
