Solar Atmospheres Acquires Vac-Met

Solar Atmospheres, Inc. is pleased to announce the acquisition of Vac-Met, Inc. With locations in Warren and Fraser, Michigan, Vac-Met has built a strong heat treating presence in the Midwest over the last 41 years. The addition of Vac-Met within the Solar Family of Companies will increase the total commercial vacuum heat treating and brazing facilities to a total of five (5) plants across the USA.

Joseph White will continue to head the day-to-day operations of Vac-Met’s nine (9) vacuum furnaces, while leading an impressive team that he has built over the years. Joseph will report to Robert Hill, President of Solar Atmospheres of Western PA. Robert Hill states “We look forward to continuing to provide unparalleled vacuum thermal processing services to Vac-Met’s valued customers while expanding Solar’s footprint. Solar is excited to support a dedicated and loyal employee base and welcome them to the Solar Team. HISTORY:

Founded in 1981, Vac-Met is a high-tech metal processing company specializing in brazing and heat treating of metal utilizing state-of-the-art vacuum and atmospheric furnaces.

Vac-Met proudly serves the Aerospace, Automotive, Medical, Space Exploration, Power Generation and 3D Printing Industries.

Our personnel offers a specific niche in the manufacturing community.  Knowledge, training and experience help solve the problems peculiar to the processing and fabrication of today’s technologically advanced metals.  Our engineers work closely with each customer in determining their particular requirements. They are available to work with you in finding the solution to your design requirements.

This experience is put to good use as industry constantly turns to the use of many new alloys to help solve the demands put upon such components as machined parts, light stampings, deep drawn sheet metal parts and forgings.

Our capacity is substantial.  Presently, we have many state-of-the-art vacuum furnaces that are capable of utilizing Argon, Nitrogen, Hydrogen and other atmospheres.  The various sizes of furnaces allow the flexibility to process from very small, to extremely large parts and load sizes, with rapid turnaround time. Batch dry and wet Hydrogen Furnaces provides additional special processing.

Vac-Met has complete state-of-the-art facilities and is small enough to provide personalized service.  We can quickly respond to most any customer requirement. This service has created many working relationships that have allowed us to grow and prosper as a global company and innovator.
